Under the theme of “Move for Health” Royal Health Awareness Society celebrates WORLD DAY ON PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS), in partnership with the World Health Organization's office in Jordan (WHO Jordan), Jordanian Ministry of Health, Greater Amman Municipality, Al Hussein Youth City, and the Jordan Tennis Federation, has participated in a celebration of the WORLD DAY ON PHYSICAL ACTIVITY under the theme of “Move For Health”.

The event was held at Al Hussein Youth City between 0900 and 1200 Amman time, and it aimed to raise health awareness, educate people about provide physical health, promote the exercise of physical activity in the Jordanian community, and raise awareness about the importance of physical activity in the prevention of chronic diseases.

The event was attended by approximately 150 school students, employees of Jordan WHO, its partners and their families, as well as individuals who were present at Al Hussein Youth City for sports activities, in addition to the RHAS work team. The Move for Health Day included various activities such as lectures run by a number of health educators from the Ministry of Health to educate the attendees of the importance of physical activity and its positive impact on health. Organizers of the event also distributed information materials and brochures and encouraged attendees to participate in sports activities that were planned in collaboration with coaches of different sports such as running, soccer, cycling and tennis.

RHAS Director General Mrs. Enaam Barrishi stressed that the activities undertaken by RAHS would raise health awareness among members of the community, adding: "We in RHAS are committed to educate the community about health and promote the culture of physical activity among individuals in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle that is free of diseases. We seek to create and promote a new culture among individuals in which physical activity becomes an integral part of their daily lives. "

It is worth mentioning that RHAS was established in 2005 under the direction of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah to promote health and to empower Jordanians to adopt healthy lifestyles and behaviors. RHAS community-based projects are implemented in accordance with the needs of the communities and revolve around the national health priorities.
