SHABABNA is a youth led project launched within the final quarter of 2011. The project aims to establish a national network of Jordanian youth volunteers that play a significant role in educating their peers and encouraging healthy lifestyles and behaviors. Youth volunteers receive training on various national health priority topics, leadership skills, communication skills and advocacy. By significantly building their capacity, youth volunteers contribute to the implementation of various health awareness based projects and initiatives throughout the Kingdom.
Focus group discussions with Shababna Baqaa Camp volunteers showed a significant impact of the capacity building component on the youth; the discussions reflected clear improvements in youth’s skills and knowledge including communication skills, time-management, planning, organization, team work, leadership, analytical thinking and many more.
Final evaluation questionnaires were conducted for the core team in Baqaa Camp to assess the impact of youth participation in the project, results showed the below impacts.
