Think First

THINK FIRST is an interactive computerized project conducted since 2009 with the Ministry of Education (MOE). The project aims to integrate injury prevention measures in the daily lives of children within Jordan. The project helps children practice the necessary safety habits which will minimize their risks of sustaining a brain or spinal cord injury-over their lifetime, while developing skills in problem solving and critical thinking analysis.

The program adopts educational material and techniques that educate students about personal vulnerability and risk taking, encouraging safer behavior and practices. It also develops students’ knowledge and skills in problem solving, critical thinking and analysis to help them make safe decisions.

Think First is a very interactive program that combines community resources, technology, arts and direct experience covering the following topics:

1. Brain and spinal cord injury prevention

2. Vehicular and pedestrian safety

3. Choking & suffocation hazards

4. Safety around weapons

5. Environment safety

6. First Aid.

The curriculum is available at MOE edu wave. The program is implemented in cooperation with Palestine Hospital that tailors the Think First International into a Think First Jordan initiative included in school curriculums for grades KG-7.

The long term impact is expected to be the practice of safer behavior that will help prevent injuries in society.
